It is all to easy to forgo...Beautifully said Kate! It is all to easy to forgot (both practitioners and patients) these sorts of issues when they are so out of their context by the time they reach the shelves when they are in nice bottles and exotic sounding names, in TCM and western herbal med. We as a society have lost the need to know the story of our food and medicines haven't we? Instead just trusting that the producers and middlemen are ethical, honest people who have our health as their highest objective. At least we as future practitioners are the last port on the production line and can choose whether those more dubiously produced medicines receive their final stamp of payment.
